There were 2 formats available, Pannasonic's VHS and Sony's Beta.
Sony's
first Beta machines debut nationally 1977 USA
First Betamax VCR retailed in 1977 for $750.00
Pannasonic's
VHS dominated the market from 1980 to 2000.
Sony lost to Passasonic stoped production of BETA machines around 1982
1978-9 Pannasonic VCRs retailed at $1000.00
Sony Beta lost out to Pannasonic in 1982-3
Sony
started production of VHS machines in Mid 1980s
This collection shows early Sony Beta mono and HIFi machines.In
addition classic high-end and Super HIFI stereo VHS machines.
VCRs are the next generation of electronic
collectibles.
Anything from 1975 to 1998 is collectible
Recomend all early Sony Beta.Also all Super
VHS machines.Beta and Super VHS HIFI stereo will have higher values in the future.
Any early top load VCR
Super VHS & BETA Hifi stereo machines with (S) video outputs are most desired and will bring high prices in the
future.
Video tapes/Movies will always be viewed and collectible
Vintage VCRs were built with quality
with tune-ups they can still perform as new today.
